Tomi – found his place in the metal industry
Tomi works at Ase Utra as a production planner. He found his place in the metal industry through many twists and turns.
Tomi’s previous work experience is very diverse. He has done all kinds of jobs, from telemarketing to cleaning. He joined Ase Utra from a role in the transport industry. A friend at the time tipped him off about an open position at Ase Utra. Today, that friend is not only a friend but also a colleague.
Since joining the Ase Utra team in the spring of 2019, Tomi has held various roles. He started in surface treatment, then moved on to assembling products. Having no prior experience or education in the metal industry, Tomi says he has learned a tremendous amount on the job. While working in assembly, he began supporting production supervisor Matti with planning and organizing production. His responsibilities gradually increased, and he officially stepped into the role of production planner in the summer of 2024.
His new role as a production planner involves scheduling orders, ensuring production resources, overseeing inventory management, and, of course, handling other day-to-day production matters. A completely new area of responsibility for Tomi has been personnel management. However, it has gone well, as his approach to problem-solving is shaped by his own background in production work.
What motivates Tomi in his role is the workplace atmosphere and its relaxed nature. At Ase Utra, work is done together in a laid-back yet highly professional and efficient way. According to Tomi, one of the best parts of his role is managing and overseeing daily production. He can see the results of his work literally outside the office window. He has also had the chance to be involved in development projects. Tomi helped improve Ase Utra’s warehouse management, and he says the successful project has made his own work easier and improved overall productivity.
In his free time, Tomi is actively involved with his dogs and is training the younger one in tracking. He also enjoys traveling with his partner and experiencing new places.
