Sami – deepening understanding through practice
Sami works at Jotwire in electronics assembly. A new role and the career opportunities it brings led him back to a familiar workplace for the fourth summer in a row.
Sami is in the final year of his studies for a Master of Science in Energy Technology in Lappeenranta. Technology has always interested him, and the degree offered by LUT provided the chance to explore different fields within engineering. Energy technology felt the most interesting option for Sami, and graduation is already on the horizon.
Sami first found his way to Ouneva Group through summer work four years ago. In his view, electronics and related technologies are fascinating. When discussing printed circuit boards and semiconductors, his enthusiasm is clearly visible. Coming from Lehmo, he also enjoys the opportunity to spend the summer working in his home region.
During each summer period, Sami has worked in different roles related to electronics. In the first summer, he focused on assembly. The tasks provided a very practical view of how functional products are manufactured for our society. In the following summer, Sami learned the principles of low-pressure moulding. The third summer was spent getting familiar with selective soldering, and this summer Sami is working in the cleanroom with our SMT technologies.
A broad experience across different production stages enables a comprehensive understanding of electronics manufacturing as a whole. Sami says that he now thinks about completely new aspects when handling electronic devices. He also mentions that he enjoys getting to know different manufacturing equipment. What stands out most to him is the working community at Jotwire and the diverse professionals in the field, from whom he has been able to learn. He felt warmly welcomed when returning to work.
For this summer, Sami’s goal is to understand the processes of the cleanroom in depth. For example, manufacturing prototype products offers just the right level of challenge, and Sami says he enjoys working on new projects. He also has high ambitions for his own career and is motivated to work towards them.
